Hal development came to an end in 2009 and it has been in "maintenance mode" since. HAL '''was deprecated in Slackware 14.0 in favor of udev'''. Both packages coexisted in the 13.X branch of the distribution releases. Sadly HAL cannot build on Slackware anymore therefore it is not possible to build up to date packages for the 14.0 release. Luckily packages built for Slackware 13.37 can run on 14.0 too. You can download them from the [http://packages.slackware.com/ package manager] section of the distribution official web site.
