TDEUTILS
En/trinity_desktop_environment#Base_Packages
The TDE Utilities package contains many common use applications built for the Trinity Desktop Environment. Those applications permit to execute common tasks like file compression / decompression, or easy configuration management tasks like printer setup and printer queues monitoring. Some of the applications are listed below:
- ark: An archiving tool.
- irkick: The infrared remote control service.
- kcalc: A calculator.
- kcharselect: A character selector.
- kdessh: Run commands on a remote host through a SSH connection.
- kdf: Graphically display disk utilization.
- kedit: An easy text editor.
- kfloppy: A floppy disk formatting utility.
- kgpg: Graphical interface to GnuPG.
- khexedit: Hexadecimal editor.
- kjots: Manages short notes and messages.
- kregexpeditor: A graphical regular expression editor.
- ktimer: Execute a command line with a preset delay in seconds.
- kwalletmanager: A password manager.
- kwikdisk: Shares the same function of kdf, but its window is smaller and better suited for persistent monitoring.
Tdeutils replaces the old kdeutils package for KDE3.
Tdeutils and Slackware
Tdeutils is a replacement for kdeutils as a consequence the latter one build script can be used as a template for the former. The build system has not been ported to cmake yet and still relies on autotools, but some updates were anyway needed to adapt the kdeutils 3.5 build script to tdeutils. Accordingly to the project guidelines /opt/trinity was configured as root directory for the package instead of /usr. The source code extracted from the archive lacks some configuration files needed by the build procedure. The missing files were created running command make in the source code root directory. Last a patch was applied to solve a libtool release inconsistency between the source code expected version, 2.2.6, and the Slackware 14.0 installed one: 2.4.2. Some script lines of code and related comments follow.
Some configuration scripts required by the build procedure are missing from the source tarball. We create the makefiles using the make command:
# Prepare the package for building (Create the configure script). echo "(II) admin makefile run here" >> ${OUTPUT}/${PRGNAM}_configure.log make -f admin/Makefile.common \ 2>&1 | tee -a ${OUTPUT}/${PRGNAM}_configure.log
A patch is needed to solve a libtool package version mismatch conflict:
# Patch the admin/ltmain.sh script in order to solve a version mismatch. patch -p0 -i ${SRCDIR}/ltmain_version_update.patch
The script specifically sets Qt libraries paths in order for other scripts to find them at build time:
# Add temporary paths to handle new libraries during build export QTDIR=/opt/trinity export PATH=/opt/trinity/bin:/usr/bin:$PATH export LIBDIR=/usr/lib${LIBDIRSUFFIX} export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib${LIBDIRSUFFIX}:/opt/trinity/lib${LIBDIRSUFFIX} export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=:/usr/lib${LIBDIRSUFFIX}/pkgconfig:/opt/trinity/lib${LIBDIRSUFFIX}/pkgconfig:$PKG_CONFIG_PATH
Finally the script runs the ./configure command with the proper option list. Option --enable-closure is the only peculiarity for the package:
# Configure the package LDFLAGS="${SLKLDFLAGS}" \ CFLAGS="${SLKCFLAGS}" \ CXXFLAGS="${SLKCFLAGS}" \ ../${PRGNAM}-${VERSION}/configure \ --prefix=${PREFIX} \ --sysconfdir="/etc/trinity" \ --libdir=${LIBDIR} \ --mandir=${PREFIX}/man \ --with-qt-dir=${QTDIR} \ --with-qt-includes=${PREFIX}/include \ --with-qt-libraries=${PREFIX}/lib${LIBDIRSUFFIX} \ --disable-rpath \ --enable-closure \ 2>&1 | tee -a ${OUTPUT}/${PRGNAM}_configure.log
Once the configuration successfully concludes, the script runs the make command then goes on with packaging the software.
A full script can be downloaded from the following link. The output package can be installed by mean of command installpkg as usual in Slackware Linux.
